Photosweeper lite review12/3/2023 ![]() ![]() The Overmacs team has created a visually stunning Mac application that can review your photo library or folder for duplicates. Makes me wonder whether the hours spent scanning could have been reduced. If you have ever accidentally imported or saved duplicate photographs and images to your computer, then PhotoSweeper is for you. Only 2% of my multi-core CPU was utilised during the scan, memory not fully utilised, and SSD read/write speed with pleny to spare. Very fast, considering the quantity of files to compare, however PhotoSweeper doesn’t seem to utilise the machine’s full potential. Without the slider set to exact match, and Time Gap set to Max, be careful you don’t inadvertently delete all your iPhone screenshots! PhotoSweeper didn’t notice the very noticable visible difference, and marked the good file for deletion. I happened to have a partially corrupted original file, but an intact duplicate of a priceless family photo. I spent several scans fumbling with the settings to try to eliminate all the modified duplicates, and filename (1), filename (2) duplicate files it was deciding to keep instead of the original, shorter filename.Įxact match is not what it says. After importing photos to scan, these critical settings should be PROMINENTLY shown, and possibly with pre-sets such as “Keep originals”. I only just discovered that you can drag to re-order the auto-mark logic. I had trouble with the wrong files being marked for deletion, and each change requires another scan… The auto-mark settings are buried in the Preferences menu. This saved countless hours of manual sorting, however there is room for imrovement to make this a 5 star experience. PhotoSweeper also serves as an up-to-date photo browser with a built-in search of photos by metadata, Quick Look preview, the "Info" panel with a detailed photo description, including histogram and image metadata (EXIF, IPTC etc.).Ī comprehensive user manual is available on our site: PhotoSweeper provides 3 modes for reviewing results: “One by One”, ”Face-to-Face" - one or two large photos with an opportunity to mark a photo with just a click, “All in One“ - all groups of duplicates in one list. Mark photos you want to get rid of manually, or use the "Auto Mark" feature to mark duplicates automatically based on the list of rules you can adjust to your needs in the Preferences. Using caches makes the next comparison much faster. You can regroup the results without re-comparing photos by changing matching level with a slider. ![]() Cutting-edge technologies and unique algorithms make searching duplicates incredibly fast and gives excellent comparison results.
